Raising money for RAD
Last week The Monarch Partnership got caught up in the excitement of The Grand National, organising a sweepstake to pick a winner and two runners-up. The money raised went towards a prize fund for the winners and a donation to our charity partners the Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD).
As punters nationwide flocked to their nearest betting shop, most exercising their annual one-off Aintree flutter, staff at Monarch dipped their hands into a pot of screwed up Racing Post cut-outs in the hope of plucking out a lucky winner.
Those who watched the event would know how tantalisingly close the finish was, leaving it to the photo to decide the winner – Tiger Roll, ridden by Davy Russell. The lucky winner at Monarch House, more importantly, was Peter Collis, taking home the lion’s share of the prize money. Second and third place in the office went to Paul Paine and David Ives respectively, with Sally Ali being the ‘lucky loser’ (the final horse complete with jockey to cross the finishing line).
A big thank you goes to Mathew Gray for organising the sweepstake and huge commendation must be reserved for RAD for all their tireless work for such an important and historic charity.
It must also be made aware that as a member of the marketing team, my involvement in the proceedings was in no way corrupt. This was attested by the fact my horse literally fell at the first hurdle.
Better luck next year perhaps.
In the meantime, why not take a look at our previous charity event, last year’s bake sale.
